As part of the Mass Premier Soccer / Bank of America Inner-City Initiative program, MPS host an annual summer camp free of charge to players from the Inner-City Initive Program.
This summer the camp was held at Southeastern Regional High School in Easton and attracted 55 players, aged 8-16 years, who were provided daily transportation to and from the camp conducted by MPS senior staff members Graham Munro, Gavin MacPhee, Kevin Aylett, Neill Caine and Jack Abelson. Each day, MPS also welcomed a busload of players from the Boys and Girls Club of Brockton to participate in the camp held from 9am – 1pm.
“As part of the mission of the MPS Inner-City Initiative, we are delighted to offer the fantastic MPS camp program to players in at risk, underserved communities,” said MPS Inner-City Initiative Director Graham Munro. “This camp is a fantastic success and we receive tremendous feedback from parents and players. We hope to continue to grow and expand this opportunity in future years to serve more players and communities.”
MPS offers a unique camp program built upon age appropriate, structured curriculum delivered in a fun and challenging environment. The players attending this camp can look forward to enjoying technical training, along with small sided games in a camp which culminates with a World Cup day event.
“It is great to see the players buy into the World Cup day theme and come dressed in colors, carrying flags and even blowing vuvuzelas,” said Munro.
The MPS Inner-City Initiative, launched in 2008, has brought the MPS School of Excellence program to the communities of Brockton, Lowell and Jamaica Plain. For more information please click HERE or contact Graham Munro on 781-891-6900 ext.38 or gmunro@mpsbr.com
