MPS Inner-City Initiative.

Since its formation in 2001, MPS has strived to create the most professional soccer development environment in the Northeast to players of of all ages, genders, background and ability.

The MPS Inner-City Initiative has been a long term vision of Massachusetts Premier Soccer and was finally realized with the launch of the Brockton and Lowell SOE programs in spring 2009.  These programs were supplemented by the addition of the Jamaica Plain SOE in fall 2009.

The goal of the MPS Inner-City Initiative is to transplant the success that the MPS School of Excellence program has achieved in the suburban communities of Greater Boston into at-risk, under-served communities in Eastern Massachusetts and provide premier level soccer coaching at needs based cost.

"One of the issues in the United States is that elite level soccer at youth level is and has been for the most part pay to play, clearly then, when you are talking about economically disadvantaged inner-city, you’ve got a problem."

Sunil Gulati - United States Soccer Federation (USSF) President.

MPS has shows its commitment to the Inner-City Initiative by placing senior staff members within the program.  MPS Inner-City Director Graham Munro acts as the Technical Director for the Brockton SOE program while Jon Coles fulfills the same role as the Technical Director for the Lowell SOE program and Andy Prosser acts as Technical Director for the Jamaica Plain SOE.
