MPS Host a Coach Program
Club Seeks Host Families for New Coaching Staff

Waltham, 22nd July 2010; MPS is looking for families in Eastern MA who would like to participate in the Host a Coach Program.

Through the MPS Host a Coach Program, families are matched with a coach (or coaches) from the UK and Ireland who have recently joined the MPS Staff. The Host a Coach Program includes an application and selection process in which families and coaches are matched based on compatibility. Both parties complete applications that provide important details on interests, lifestyle and home and family rules. Placements can last for various durations of time, ranging from one week to nine months.

Host families are compensated for the costs of housing MPS Staff and receive discounts on player fees throughout the housing period. Each year, participating families also receive special honors at the club-wide banquet.

Host families play a key role in a coach’s transition to life in the US. By hosting a coach from abroad, families participate in a cultural exchange that is rewarding and educational. In the five years since the creation of the Host a Coach Program, many enriching relationships have been established between coaches and their host families. Sarah Dooley, MPS Premier Coach, explains “My host family has become my second family. We have learned a great deal from one another and built a life-long bond.”
