MPS U20 Men Tie Columbus Crew Juniors
Club Face Professional Team in Super-20 Championships

Waltham, 29th July 2010; The MPS U20 Men tied the Columbus Crew Juniors 1-1 in the first day of USL Super-20 Championships play.

Daniel Galvin, who was instrumental in the 3-0 victory that earned the team a nationals bid, scored the lone goal for MPS. The Columbus Crew Juniors finished second in the Midwest Division of Super-20 League behind the Chicago Fire. The Crew recently captured the US Youth Soccer championship before a crowd of thousands, the first MLS team to accomplish the feat.

“The team played very well against a challenging opponent,” said Coach Andy Prosser. “We competed against a professional team, one of the best teams in the tournament, and came away with a good result.”

The MPS men will face FC Harlem on Friday the 30th, followed by a match against Parsippany, Mid-Atlantic Division winners, on Saturday the 31st.

The USL Super-20 Championships feature 14 of the top men’s and women’s U-20 teams in the country. Teams qualify for the Super-20 Championships during regular season league play and compete for national titles.

The USL Super-20 League provides the platform for top 17-20 year olds in the United States and Canada to compete at an elite level. The USL Super-20 League serves as a reserve team system for many W-League and Premier Development League teams and features regional team competition throughout the summer months.
