MPS Renegades Qualify Four Teams To USL Super-Y Finals
MPS Boston franchise cap successful year with strong presence headed to Tampa

Waltham, MA, 16th August 2010; The MPS Renegades highlighted a successful 2010 season qualifying four teams from the club Premier Team Program to the USL Super-Y League North American Finals.

The MPS U13, U15, U16 and U17 Renegades will each travel to Tampa in November after earning a bid to the finals via the New England Division of the USL Super-Y League.

“We are delighted to once again send a strong representation to Tampa from the MPS Renegades Premier Team Program,” said MPS Renegades Director Mark McDevitt.  “Aside from the USL Super-Y League, the program also enjoyed a season littered with notable team tournament successes and individual accomplishments from MPS Renegades alumni in the NCAA collegiate ranks.”

Early in 2010, the MPS U16 Renegades captured the Disney Soccer Showcase event held in Orlando, FL, presented by Chelsea Football Club.  The side, led by Head Coach Mark McDevitt, followed that tournament success by placing as finalists at the prestigious PDA Girls Memorial Day Showcase Tournament.

At the younger ages, the MPS U13 Renegades registered a finalist placing at the US Club Soccer Regional Championships held in Lagrangeville, NY during Memorial Day weekend.

The coaching staff of the MPS Renegades program was also bolstered this year with the addition of Darren Gallagher, College of the Holy Cross women’s soccer Head Coach.  Gallagher led the MPS U15 Renegades to their successful Y-League season.

The past year also saw success on the collegiate front for alumni from the MPS Renegades Premier Team Program.  Megan McGoldrick (Reading, MA) had a standout freshman year at Boston University as she registered five goals and four assists as the Terriers marched on to an America East Conference title and a berth in the NCAA Division I women’s soccer tournament.

“It is fantastic to see former MPS players performing at a high level at the collegiate level and Megan certainly had a standout season at Boston University,’ said McDevitt.  “After again graduating a large number of players into the NCAA game in 2010, we look forward to even more success stories in the upcoming fall.”

The MPS Renegades Program draws players from Boston, Bay State West, Metro West, and Central MA.  For more information on playing opportunities in the MPS Renegades Program please contact Mark McDevitt on 781-891-6900 ext.12 or mmcdevitt@mpsbr.com
