MPS Lady Crusaders Complete Strong 2010 Premier Season
U15 side tournament success highlights exciting year

Waltham, MA, 31st August 2010; The MPS Lady Crusaders Premier Team Program enjoyed an exciting 2010 season with a host of on field success throughout the year.

The season was highlighted by tournament success, alumni accomplishments and coaching additions for the program which attracts players from the South Shore and Cape Cod regions.

“The past season saw the program move forward with the addition of great players, new coaches and strong competitive teams taking the field,” said MPS Lady Crusaders Director Gavin MacPhee.  “The players in the program really bought into our philosophy and the progress over the year has allowed us build solid foundations for years to come.”

The highlights during the year included victory at the Needham Memorial Day College Showcase event for the MPS U15 Lady Crusaders.  During the same weekend, the MPS U14 Lady Crusaders registered a finalist appearance at the US Club Soccer Regional Championships.

The MPS Lady Crusaders received a tremendous boost to the coaching staff in 2101 with the transition of MPS senior staff member James Hamblin into the program.  Hamblin took the reins of the U16 Lady Crusaders side and led that individual group to the MA State Cup Round Robin for the first time.

During the fall season, former MPS Lady Crusaders standout Devin Petta began her collegiate career at Northeastern University with a bang, collecting NSCAA second team All America honors during her freshman year.  The forward, who was part of the MPS Lady Crusaders team who won a US Club Soccer National Championship (2007) and USL Super-Y League North American championship (2008), made an immediate impact in NCAA Division I soccer.

One of the most pleasing moments of the season for the MPS Lady Crusaders was the run of results and performances of the U13 side to end to the USL Super-Y League season.  Head Coach Gavin MacPhee watched his side post a record of 7-1-1 during the final nine games of the year.  The growth and development over the year delighted the Lady Crusaders Director.

“The MPS U13 Lady Crusaders were a group who matured over the course of the season and their growth can be measured by the performances at the tail end of the year,” said MacPhee.  “It is my hope that this group will continue to mature and go from strength to strength in the upcoming years.  They have set a benchmark for themselves and we will aspire to bigger and better things as a group during the 2010 / 2011 season.”

The MPS Lady Crusaders Program draws players from the South Shore region and Cape Cod.  For more information on playing opportunities in the MPS Lady Crusaders Program please contact Gavin MacPhee on 781-891-6900 ext.30 or gmacphee@mpsbr.com
