Waltham, February 13th 2008;
The MPS Boston Renegades have continued to recruit from the top women's soccer
programs in the nation and have recently acquired two players from
2007 Division I National Finalist, Florida State University.
Tori Huster and Rachel Lim have
agreed to join Head Coach Darren Gallagher's squad which has become littered
with high profile talent over recent weeks.
"FSU has established itself as a collegiate
powerhouse and it is testament to MPS that we have attracted two players to our
club from such a high profile program," said Gallagher. "We are ecstatic
with Tori and Rachel's commitments as we piece together our 2008 W-League
squad."
Returning for her second stint in Renegades
colors is 18-year old prodigy Tori Huster. The midfielder from Ohio was
one of the hottest prospects in High School soccer and has recently committed to
attend FSU in the fall of 2008.
"Tori has a very mature soccer brain for an
18-year old," said Gallagher. "She came in last season and turned a lot of
heads with her ability to compete at such a high level in the W-League. We
are very pleased that she has decided to return to the Renegades and we are
highly optimistic about what she brings to the team with another year of
experience behind her."
Playing a role in the FSU squad which fell just
one hurdle shy of a National Championship was defender Rachel Lim. The
freshman appeared in 23 games over the campaign and chipped in with four goals
during the season, including one in the NCAA tournament.
"It speaks volumes for the ability of Rachel
that she went to a school and regularly contributed to a squad chasing a
national title," said Assistant Coach Mark McDevitt. "We are very excited
about the potential she brings to the Renegades with her experience of competing
in high profile games."
Huster and Lim join a list of new faces that
have recently committed to the squad which
will kick off their 2008 W-League campaign with a highly anticipated home opener
against Jersey Sky Blue at Bowditch Stadium, Saturday 10th May. The game
is slated to kick-off at 4pm.
