"There is a tremendous excitement around the
club to get the 2008 season underway," said Crusaders Head Coach Paul Baber.
"The home venue of Mass Maritime Academy is a fantastic setting for PDL soccer
and should be a spectacle for everyone in attendance."
Baber will field a mixture of returnees and new
faces this weekend as the club looks to stretch their undefeated home streak
which stretches back 26 games over a period of four seasons.
Returning faces for the 2008 season include club
captain Graham Munro (pictured), forward Jason Massie and wide player Edens Chery.
"I feel we have again found the correct balance of
returnees and supplemented these players with some of the best collegiate talent
in the nation," said Baber. "It is my strong belief that the squad this
year is loaded with the talent needed to compete at the highest level."
New faces on show this weekend include Yan Klukowski
(Central Connecticut College), Michael Coburn (Memphis University), Matt Narode
(Binghamton University) Even Scheffey (York College) and Michael Dickinson
(former professional at Carlisle United).
The New Hampshire Phantoms come to visit after
opening their 2008 season last weekend with a 1-1 tie at home to the Long Island
Rough Riders.
"New Hampshire have recruited very well this year
and we fully expect a very difficult contest on Saturday," said Baber.
"The game has all the makings of a very competitive match-up and should be a
fantastic occasion for all in attendance."
