Former Crusaders Forward inks USL Contract

Barnett signs one-year contract with Montreal Impact

 

Waltham, April 8th 2008; Former MPS Crusaders forward Dwight Barnett has inked a one-year contract with Montreal Impact of the USL First Division.

The Jamaica, NY native spent two years with the Crusaders and was named PDL All-Eastern Conference in 2007.  The forward netted 16 goals last season and established himself as one of the leading forwards in the league.

"We are delighted that Dwight has been given the opportunity to play professionally in the USL First Division," said MPS Crusaders Head Coach Paul Baber.

Barnett joins 2007 teammates Andrew Wright (Scunthorpe United, England), Dan Stratford (DC United) and Adam Chavez (Richmond Kickers) who have signed professional deals in the past six months.

The next crop of future professionals will be on display when the Crusaders open their 2008 campaign with a home fixture against the expansion New Hampshire Phantoms on Saturday 10th May.  The game will be played at the Crusaders new home location of Mass Maritime Academy and kick-off is slated for 7pm.
