Waltham, March 26th 2008; Five former MPS players took the field last week for a glamour pre-season friendly between DC United of the MLS and Richmond Kickers of the USL Second Division.

Former Crusaders PDL standouts Dan Stratford ('07) and James Thorpe ('07) suited up for DC United and faced Adam Chavez ('06-'07) David Bulow (01'- '06) and Luke Vercollone ('02-'03) in Richmond Kickers colors.

"At MPS we have the single best record of moving players from our PDL squad into the professional ranks and it was pleasing to see five former players feature in this contest," said MPS Crusaders Head Coach Paul Baber.  "All five players were integral parts of our PDL squads over the years and we are delighted to act as a conveyer belt into the professional game."

The contest ended with Chavez, Bulow and Vercollone coming out on top as the USL Second Division side claimed a 3-0 victory over their MLS opponents.

The 2008 batch of future  professionals can be seen for the first time when the MPS Crusaders open their 2008 campaign with a home fixture against the expansion New Hampshire Phantoms on Saturday 10th May.  The game will be played at the Crusaders new home location of Mass Maritime Academy and kick-off is slated for 7pm.
