Waltham, January 2008;
Mass Premier Soccer are delighted to
announce that Crusaders first team products Ricardo Pierre-Louis and Dwight
Barnett have been selected in the 2008 MLS Superdraft.
Pierre-Louis
was selected by the Columbus Crew in the second round as the 22nd overall pick.
The Haitian International notched six goals in Crusaders colors in 2007.
In the third
round, Chicago Fire plucked Dwight Barnett with the 38th overall pick.
Barnett completed a fine season in 2007 scoring 16 goals and finishing as top
scorer for the Crusaders. The striker was also named to the PDL All
Eastern Conference squad.
"We are
delighted for Ricardo and Dwight to begin their professional careers," said
Crusaders Head Coach Paul Baber. "We have a long and outstanding tradition
at MPS of being a conveyer belt to the professional game and both players go
with the best wishes of everyone at the club."
Pierre Louis
and Barnett join a long list of PDL Crusaders who have moved into the professional
ranks across the world in recent years. Earlier in 2008, Andrew Wright put
pen to paper with English League Championship side Scunthorpe United. Others include Troy Perkins (DC
United / 2006 MLS All‐Star), Joseph Ngwenya (Houston Dynamo) and
Chris Joyce (Odd Grenland – Norway).
