Five MPS Players Named to '89/'90 SYL Select

Lady Crusaders lead league with most selections

 

Waltham, 1st February 2008; MPS is delighted to announce that five players from the U17 / U18 Lady Crusaders were selected to the Super Y-League '89/'90 ODP girls select team after an intense three day camp in Cocoa Beach, Florida. 

Stephanie Gilkenson, Allison Coppenrath, Courtney Harnias, Lyndsay Pallotta and Gabrielle Jatkola  each caught the eye of selectors during the  weekend and were eventually named to the final 17 player roster.

The five selections from the MPS Lady Crusaders was the most of any team represented at the event.

“I am very proud of all five players,” said MPS Technical Director Darren Gallagher.  “Some of the best players in the country were at the event and it is testament to these girls that they have established themselves amongst this elite category.  To have more selections than any other club speaks volumes for MPS.”

Players are selected to attend the SYL ODP camp based on their performances during the Y-League season.  The weekend allows players to showcase their talents in front of selectors and also a plethora of college coaches.

“All the players really jumped at the opportunity they had to stretch themselves and compete at a higher level," said Marcel Choquette of St. Michael’s College in Vermont.  "This camp was a great tool for them to prepare for college and even the professional game.”
