Renegades head to Long Island for Play-Offs
Gallagher's side tackle Rough Riders in W-League First Round
 

Waltham, MA, 22nd July 2008; After securing a play-off spot in his first full season in charge, MPS Boston Renegades Head Coach Darren Gallagher takes his  side to Long Island for the first round of the W-League play-offs on Wednesday 23rd July.

The Renegades will visit the host Rough Riders at Michael Tully Field for a 7.00pm kick off.  The winner earns a ticket to Atlanta and a place in the Eastern Conference Semi-Final round.

"Wednesday marks a new start to our season in the form of play-offs," said Gallagher.

"Play-off games are usually won be the team who wants it most and we expect this to be the case on Wednesday."

The first round game marks the third time time this season that the Renegades will battle the Rough Riders.  Back on June 21st, Gallagher's side fell 2-0 at Michael Tully Field. 

In the return fixture on July 5th at Bowditch, a late Jamie Craft goal salvaged a 3-3 draw after the Rough Riders fought back from 2-0 down to lead 3-2 with five minutes remaining. Allison Martino and Lauren MacIver supplied the other Renegades goals on that occasion.

"Long Island are a very talented side with some special individual players," said Gallagher.  "We have had two fantastic games against them this season and we expect nothing less this time around."

The Rough Riders have been lead this season by forward Kerri McCabe who has netted seven goals and tallied two assists during the 2008 campaign.

The Rough Riders have also established a fantastic home record winning five of seven regular season contests at Michael Tully Field.

The Renegades enter Wednesday with forward Ashlee Pistorius in a rich vein of form.  The former Texas A&M striker has notched in her previous two outings bringing her season total to eight goals.


The winner of Wednesday's contest will earn the right to face the Atlanta Silverbacks in the W-League Eastern Conference semi-final on Friday 25th July.  The conference final will be held in Atlanta on the following day.
