Waltham, January 29th 2008;
The 2008 MPS Boston Renegades will kick off their 2008 W-League campaign with a
highly anticipated home opener against Jersey Sky Blue at Bowditch Stadium,
Saturday 10th May (kick off TBD).
In their first full season in charge,
management duo Darren Gallagher and Mark McDevitt are looking to build upon the
dramatic turnaround of the 2007 W-League campaign. After beginning the
season with a 1-5 record, Gallagher and McDevitt transformed the team after
their mid-year appointment. The coaching pair guided the squad on a run of
victories and only narrowly missed out on the play-offs with a loss to eventual
National Champion Washington Freedom.
"The 2007 season was a story of two half's,"
said Head Coach Darren Gallagher. "In the second part of the year, we
managed to re-install the passion and belief of the squad and we certainly laid
the foundations to build upon in 2008."
The Renegades will once again compete in
The W-League’s Northeast Division. Opposing
teams include Western Mass Pioneers, New York Magic, Long Island Rough Riders,
New Jersey Wildcats, Northern Virginia Majestics, Jersey Sky Blue and Washington
Freedom.
"Playing in the
Northeast Division is a very competitive schedule highlighted by the 2007
W-League champion Washington Freedom," said Gallagher. "We are extremely
excited about the year ahead."
The Renegades
will once again use Framingham as their home venue playing six of their seven
home games at Bowditch Stadium. As well as the home opener on May 10th,
Renegades fans can expect a mouth watering contest on Saturday 19th July when
the defending National Champion Washington Freedom visit Bowditch Stadium for
the regular season finale.
The last date
for the diary is a double header fixture with the MPS Cape Crusaders at
Whitman-Hanson High School on Saturday 14th June when the Renegades entertain
Fredericksburg Lady Gunners.
