"We now need to carry on this momentum as we
embark on our assault on the rest of the season."
It was captain
Lauren MacIver
who put the wheels in motion on Saturday
evening, netting the opening goal after 19 minutes against host Jersey Sky Blue.
Defender McDonnell sealed the three points in the 70th minute as the Renegades
avenged an early season loss to Sky Blue.
The win on Saturday set the Renegades up for the
tail end of a double header against the defending National Champion Washington
Freedom on Sunday evening.
Once again it was
McDonnell
who got her name of the scoresheet as she
swept home the game winning goal in the 54th minute of play. The single
strike was enough to separate the sides and send the Renegades back to Boston
with six points and two huge victories.
"It was important that we started the weekend on the
correct foot and the girls were very professional in their approach against Sky
Blue, "said Gallagher. "The win on Saturday helped with the mood and
confidence was high going into the Freedom game a day later. We are
absolutely delighted to win on the road at the defending National Champions."
The Renegades head into back to back road games
again this weekend as they travel to face Fredericksburg Lady Gunners and
Northern Virginia Majestics on Saturday and Sunday respectively. The
Renegades currently sit in second place in the Northeast Division of the Eastern
Conference. Gallagher's side trail the Long Island Lady Rough Riders by a
solitary point having played one game less than the side from New York.
