Waltham, 28th April 2008;
MPS held its
annual College Showcase events last week at the Thayer Academy complex and
attracted 50 coaches from the collegiate game over the two evenings.
The weather cooperated on
both the boys and girls evenings allowing the U16 and U17 teams from the MPS
Bulldogs, MPS Crusaders, MPS Renegades and MPS Lady Crusaders to showcase their
talents in front of a host a collegiate scouts.
"The showcase event was very
well received and it was pleasing for our players to see so many coaches at the
event," said MPS Technical Director Darren Gallagher. "To attract 50 coaches
over two evenings speaks volumes for the club and we are delighted to provide
this opportunity to our Premier Team players."
Coaches from all levels of
NCAA soccer were on hand to witness competitive games throughout both evenings.
Sandwiched between games, the clubs goalkeepers were afforded an extra
opportunity to display their talents through a series of Goalie War
events.
"At MPS we pride ourselves
on preparing our players for the collegiate game and the timing of this event
has worked well for college coaches," said Gallagher. "We hope to expand in
2009 with the opening of our facilities in Bridgewater and Bellingham."
