Waltham, 13th June 2008;
After the tournament
success of Memorial Day weekend, MPS teams have brought their great from into
the busy period of the USL Super-Y League season.
There are currently eight MPS teams sitting at the top of their
respective Y-League brackets but there is still a lot of soccer to be played
before teams can book their flights to Florida for the National Finals in
November.
MPS teams have also enjoyed success in the USYS National State
Cup tournament competition.
The MPS U19 men have booked their place in the final while a
further seven MPS sides across all age brackets will compete in the semi final
round this weekend.
On the girls side of the club, the MPS Renegades U13, U14, U16,
U17 and U19 girls will compete for a place in the State Cup Final while the MPS
Bulldogs U13 and U18 teams will do the same on the boy’s side. The teams are
competing for a place in the Regional and National event to be held later in the
summer.
“It is always pleasing when our teams our successful,” said MPS
Director of Coaching Peter Bradley. “We know that our players always work hard
and we know that we create a challenging and positive environment in which they
can learn. As the players get older they become more accountable and achieve
greater consistency in their good habits and this is reflected in their
performances.”
“We want our players to be comfortable on the ball and to be
confident enough in themselves and their teammates to take risks on the field at
the right times and we believe that this is being exhibited in our club’s style
of play,” said Bradley.
MPS are
currently conducting tryouts for the Premier Team program for the 2008/2009
