Waltham, July 10th 2008;
Mass Premier Soccer Technical Director
and Boston Renegades Head Coach Darren Gallagher has been named as one of the
eight W-League coaches to attend the inaugural USL W-League Combine this
upcoming September 4-7 in Tampa, Florida.
The top 128
women's soccer players in the nation will gather at the combine and showcase
their talents in front of representatives from Women's Professional Soccer (WPS)
in preparation for the 2009 season.
Gallagher will
lead one of eight squads at the combine, conducting practice sessions and
managing within a game format. In the short-term, he will also be
responsible for identifying current standout players to attend the event.
"I am delighted
and honored to have the opportunity to participate in such a prestigious event
for women's soccer," said Gallagher. "The event will play host to the top
women's soccer players in the country and it will be fantastic to see some of
the current Renegades players compete in this environment."
In 2008,
Gallagher has lead the Renegades to a current first place standing in the
W-League's Northeast Division of the Eastern Conference. The team's record
currently stands at 8-2-1 with three regular season games remaining.
