The MPS SOE program is tiered to enable us to place players in the most developmentally appropriate environment. The focus, regardless of age or placement, remains exclusively on player development.

MPS is aware of the varying rates of development that young players experience. Based on this understanding, we have developed a fluid model which allows for regular player movement based on continued improvement in both performance and attitude. The flexibility to move players between programs is part of our development first philosophy, as well as our dedication to place individuals in the most appropriate environment possible.

Noted below is a brief description of the various programs offered as part of the School of Excellence – the JSOE, SOE Skills Development, SOE Academy and SOE Elite.

JUNIOR SCHOOL OF EXCELLENCE (JSOE): U7-U8
The JSOE is a fun, yet technically challenging, introduction to the SOE program. It caters for 1st/2nd grade players, and is town as opposed to region specific. At this level no tryout is required, with the program being open to all motivated young players who are looking for training that supplements what they receive with their town programs.

SOE SKILLS DEVELOPMENT: U9-U12
The SOE Skills Development program is designed for players who are not yet at the SOE Academy or Elite level, but who are motivated to continue their development. The program allows players to feel comfortable in the training setting provided, whilst also challenging them to improve – with specific focus being placed on individual technique.

SOE ACADEMY: U9-U12
The SOE Academy supplies the opportunity for dedicated and skilled young players to experience professional level coaching in a competitive and challenging environment. The SOE Academy program has a variety of different host locations, ensuring that we are able to provide geographic convenience for players looking for advanced instruction. Evaluation is required prior to acceptance into the SOE Academy, enabling us to provide an appropriate and challenging learning environment for all players. As part of our commitment to maximizing player development, there will be flexibility for movement between the Academy and Elite programs should player performance warrant.

SOE ELITE: U10-U12
The SOE Elite caters exclusively for players who have proven to consistently excel in the areas of skill, commitment and attitude. The Elite program represents the top tier of the SOE program, with acceptance reserved for individuals who display the exceptional talents required to compete at the highest level. 

What separates MPS School of Excellence from other clubs:  

COACHING: All coaching is provided by the MPS Staff of professional coaches.

CURRICULUM: Our year round curriculum is age-appropriate and provides a challenging, fun, and positive environment in which players can grow.  

PLAYER DEVELOPMENT: The primary focus of the program is the child and their development.

COOPERATIVE: SOE runs in cooperation with town soccer.

COACH DEVELOPMENT: Training sessions are open to all town coaches who have players involved in the program.

ELITE/ACADEMY: The structure of the program allows for all players to be placed in the most appropriate training environment relevant to their skill set. Our top level program also offers the opportunity of tournaments and international travel.

CONTINUITY: SOE is just one of the MPS development programs. MPS has recreational and residential camp/clinic programs in over 60 different MA communities, 44 Premier Teams for players aged U13-U18, and a structure that involves U19, U20 and Senior Teams.
