All MPS Premier Midfielders should be effective passers – in all directions, especially with the final pass.
An effective midfield player should have the ability to collect the ball, (Even in tight areas), and get it to the next player in a way that effectively maintains possession or creates an attacking opportunity.
Premier level midfield players need to recognise their role as attacking players and their responsibility for creating scoring chances – through dribbling, passing or long range shooting.
Premier level wide players should be dominant 1v1 attackers who can deliver accurate and effective balls into the box/’danger area’.
MPS Premier wide players should also understand their role in creating width, as well as being able to create space to receive balls – both into their feet and into space.
MPS Premier Midfielders should be aware of their crucial role when their team is defending.
